For the lovers of 19th century art, the Orsay museum is certainly a must to visit, where one can discover the most prestigious and complete French Impressionist collection.

The building itself is a wonderful showcase for this period of art. Built for the 1900 World Fair, as a luxurious train station and hotel, it was brilliantly transformed in 1986, to allow a complete and logical study of the works.

This is a little gem of a museum. Set in early third century Roman baths and in the 15th c. flamboyant Gothic mansion of the Cluny abbotts, it houses an amazing collection of medieval art and artifacts, including the tapestries of the Lady and the Unicorn.

This small museum, housed in a private 19th c. mansion and hidden in the charming residential Passy district, contains the world's largest collection of paintings by Claude Monet, as well as works by his friends and contemporaries. Also features a group of illuminated manuscripts from the 12th to the 15th centuries and an important collection of Napoleonic furniture.
